The first translation into English of the inscriptions inscribed on the beams of Montaigne's library. The translation of the inscriptions are by Dennis Letbetter with the assistance of Michael Taylor. The original texts are from Jacques de Feytaud's essay Une Visite a Montaigne. Photograph of Montaigne's library taken 1990, and printed 1996 by Dennis Letbetter on gold chloride toned printing-out-paper.

150 copies have been handset & printed by Jack W. Stauffacher in Nicholas Kis types on Rives mould made papers at the Greenwood Press, San Francisco. Format 11.25 x 7.25 inches (29 x 18 cm). Binding by the Foolscap Press.
